RECHARGE CLUSTER TREES

DESIGN TEAM: CAMIEL WEIJENBERG, SYIRR SKETCH

PROJECT TEAM: CAMIEL WEIJENBERG, SYIRR SKETCH

This project formed part of the Singaplural ‘Larger than Life’ theme aimed to celebrate the best of creativity in furniture and design in Singapore. It gave WEIJENBERG the opportunity to expand the team and collaborate with Ergos Furniture and Cheng Meng construction.

Merging furniture with function in a simple continuous line, the bench fuses with the shelter to form an integral part of the canopy. Scattered pedestals surround the structure to encourage small gatherings.

The recharge cluster trees were erected overnight and featured at Dhoby Ghaut for a week. Since then, it has been installed in various locations and is now homed by Jurong community centre.
