In April 2010, Marina Bay Sands changed the Singapore skyline forever and created a new focal point for the Lion City. While Marina Bay Financial Centre provides shelter from the elements, as a result of its positioning between two towering fully glazed buildings, commuters speed through The Lawn. Combined with a wind tunnel effect created by the high rise buildings, this lead to a brief to reframe The Lawn and create a peak position in the central business district.
A choice of overlapping colourful fabric created a construct working with the natural conditions of the site while retaining the picture-perfect view of the Marina Bay Sands area. The design allowed for greater opportunities as a focal point for communal leisure activities in the city centre.
